Junior Financial Controller

The finance department supports and advises management in making the strategic objectives concrete, financially substantiated and effectively monitors their realization. You will be conducting financial administrations with timely delivery, and are fully responsible for this.

Scotch Whisky Investment (SWI), part of trading company Scotch Whisky International BV and under the supervision of the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM), focuses on offering Scotch Single Malt whisky as an investment object. The Scotch whisky market has been growing very strongly in terms of demand for years and within it, especially the premium category 'Single Malt' over 20 years old, given the scarcity, quality and unique character, has become a special product for many investors where good financial returns can be achieved.

In recent years, SWI has grown very strongly and now has around 56 employees internationally. The head office is currently located in Sassenheim Netherlands and besides that there are sales offices in Belgium and Montenegro and the operational whisky facilities for bottling and storage are located in Scotland. Scotland's ambitions are high. With the construction of 28 warehouses, bottling stations and an office, the operational capacity in Glenrothes will be greatly expanded in the coming years. In addition, our new head office in Falkland will eventually be built and Sassenheim will be supporting.

The Role
The finance department supports and advises management in making the strategic objectives concrete, financially substantiated and effectively monitors their realization. In addition, the finance department is accountable for the reporting to internal and external stakeholders and responsible for reliable and timely administration for the group. The finance department also supports the preparation of various tax filings as well as the month-end closing and the annual audit.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Conducting financial administrations with timely delivery, and is fully responsible for this, resulting in reliable and timely financial administrations. Making various reconciliations between the financial administrations and the stock administration, and other sub administrations , resulting in a correct representation of various balance sheet items.

  • The conduct of debtors (including payments and advances to investors) creditors and administrations including the maintenance of various mailboxes and contact with debtors (to a lesser extent) and creditors about outstanding items resulting in timely payment.

  • Preparing the specifications of the month-end closing and the year-end closing for all the group companies resulting in reliable preparation for the monthly report and year-end closing with a sound substantiation.

  • Preparing simple tax and other declarations resulting in timely and correct filing of these declarations.

  • Other diverse ad hoc accounting, legal and fiscal activities.

You are an accurate person with a drive and you are eager to learn. Besides that you are proactive, consistent and stress resistant. You have a positive and tidy character, you communicate easily and simply at various levels within the organization, you like to work together with others and feel responsible for results, you are honest and respectful towards others, you are pragmatic and flexible. You have strong creative judgement and flair. You feel comfortable with working within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

What else makes you our new Junior Financial Controller?

  • Preferably or at least a completed relevant associate degree (Ad) or bachelor degree (BSc.) e.g. in Business Economics or Accounting.

  • 1-5 years relevant ­­work experience, preferably in a trading company

  • You have a good command of both the Dutch and English languages.

  • You are willing to work between 24 and 32 hours a week.

  • Experience with Twinfield and Basecone is an advantage

This is your team
As our new junior financial controller you will report to the group controller and work closely with the IT, marketing, sales departments and other multidisciplinary teams.
