Junior Portfolio Manager
The Junior Portfolio Manager is responsible for supporting the Portfolio Manager in managing investment portfolios for clients. This includes performing portfolio analytics, monitoring, developing and maintaining whisky portfolios for clients. The role also involves reporting on portfolio performance and valuation.
Your Role
As Junior Portfolio Manager, you play a key role in constructing, managing, and optimizing client whisky investment portfolios. You support the full lifecycle of portfolio management, from acquisition and allocation to monitoring performance and advising on strategic adjustments.
You work closely with the Portfolio Manager to build well-balanced whisky portfolios, selecting casks and bottles based on factors such as distillery performance, age profiles, rarity, market trends, and client objectives. You continuously monitor portfolio performance and valuation, ensuring portfolios remain aligned with both market developments and long-term investment strategies.
In this role, you combine analytical thinking with a strong understanding of the whisky market. You help translate data and market insights into actionable portfolio decisions, contributing directly to client returns and satisfaction.
You are also actively involved in improving portfolio management processes and systems, ensuring data accuracy and operational efficiency. As the organization continues to grow, your role evolves alongside it, offering increasing responsibility and exposure to strategic decision-making.
Close collaboration with teams such as Purchasing, Sales, Finance, Marketing, and Logistics is essential. You contribute to a seamless flow from sourcing whisky to delivering value to clients.
Your Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (HBO/WO), preferably in Finance, Economics, or a related field
1–3 years of experience in portfolio management, investments, or financial services
Strong affinity with alternative investments and a genuine interest in whisky is a plus
Experience with data analysis and financial modelling (Excel required; Power BI is a plus)
Understanding of financial markets and portfolio construction principles
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, scale-up environment
Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
Proactive and hands-on approach with a strong sense of ownership
Team player with strong communication skills
Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus)
