How we evaluate opportunities.

Research-led selection for casks and rare bottles alike: the factors we weigh, set out openly.

How we evaluate

Consistent factors, judged on evidence

Every asset is assessed against the same set of factors, whoever is selling and however scarce it looks.

Casks and bottles are judged on different criteria, but the method behind them does not change: gather the evidence, weigh it against the price, and walk away when the two do not meet. Nothing enters a portfolio because it was available.

The factors

What we weigh, for each asset type

Eight factors per asset, gathered before a price is ever discussed.

Casks of single malt whisky in a bonded warehouse

Research does not stop at acquisition

A cask is regauged and sampled, a bottle's market is tracked, and both are revalued at least twice a year. Selection sets the starting point; monitoring is what tells us whether the case still holds.
